In the 1988 film Working Girl, Melanie Griffith’s character famously wore sneakers for her daily commute, swapping them out for heels at the last possible minute outside the office. These days, both designers and street-style notables are leaving their dressy footwear at home and making fashion statements with athletic shoes. And no, we’re not talking about those ubiquitous Isabel Marant wedges. We’re referring to a specific subgenre of sneaker, i.e. competitive trainers made for running sprints (whether they be around the track or on the city sidewalks).

The trend really kicked into gear last month, when Tommy Ton snapped dapper guys wearing Nike and New Balance in Milan and Paris. Similar styles showed up on the runways at the Salvatore Ferragamo, Raf Simons, and Valentino menswear shows. Girls are embracing the look, too. At the opening of Yayoi Kusama’s Whitney retrospective, the artist Kara Walker dressed down her Zero + Maria Cornejo dress with sporty sneaks, while Vika Gazinskaya was among those who wore them during Couture.

Carlo Pignatelli Men Spring/Summer 2013 FULL SHOW | Milan Men's Fashion ...

Middle Eastern luxury was brought to the stage at the Spring/Summer 2013 Carlo Pignatelli Fashion Show during Milan Men's Fashion Week. Metallic gold and bronze were the hit colors of the evening. The models walked the runway wearing light gold lipstick, bold bronze jackets and narrow pants throughout the entire event. Moroccan inspired hats, caftans and scarves were worn as well, giving the show an ethnic boost. The collection includes a lot of silk tanks and low neckline t-shirts. An incredible thing about this show is that even the runway was decorated well, with gold and red opera curtains. Many of the jackets had fabulous middle eastern inspired prints which included a lot of shine. Overall, the audience was quite impressed, probably because they have never seen a fashion show this rich and in depth.

DOLCE & GABBANA WOMENSWEAR FW 2013 FASHION SHOW

BAROQUE ROMATICISM
The starting point of the Dolce&Gabbana Fall Winter 2013 women's collection is the tradition of Sicilian Baroque, which has evolved in volumes and processes, experimenting in new cuts and decorations: golden embroideries that recall Baroque mirrors and frames or embroideries made of small points inspired by dining room tapestries; prints of cherubs and angels that appear to have come out of a painting.

LOUIS VUITTON CONDOMS COME AND GO

The posh contraceptive is labeled with the Louis Vuitton company's signature LV logo on both the packet and condom itself—for his and her pleasure, we assume. It was designed by Irakli Kiziria in collaboration with Design Provocation, neither of which are affiliated with the actual fashion house and thus these things may never see the light of day.
The concept was to launch the product on World AIDS Day, with proceeds to benefit AmFAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research); unfortunately, just as info about the "bling for your thing" came up, the website with all the info shot away. According to theHuffington Post, the luxury rubbers were tentatively priced at $68 each. "To put the price in perspective, $68 could buy you about six 12-packs of regular condoms," the site economically pointed out.
But when you think about it, that's a small price to pay for multiple areas of enjoyment. Whether you're a whore or a saint the sex benefits are obvious. If you're a label whore then this monogram love glove is the ultimate accessory. And honestly, who wouldn't want to have a bowl of these on your coffee table as a decorative conversation piece?

JAMES DEAN: 1950S STUDIO RENT BOY?

A stylish new indie film is looking to take the rumors of James Dean's bisexuality even further. The trailer for Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean shows just how far the Rebel was willing to go to become a major motion picture star, and the trailer seems to pretty much imply that he slept his way to the studio top. At one point in the preview, Dean says to a friend: "These studio men. They want a special talent. A young man like me. They want something I have. If they want me, they're going to have to pay."

Former Abercrombie & Fitch model James Preston stars in the role of Dean, alongside co-stars Robert Gant of Queer As Folk, and The L Word's Erin Daniels; Out.com reported that the film doesn't have a distributor yet.
